Europe, courtesy of NATO and the EU, have been colonized for so long they don't see themselves as sovereign nations , but provinces of the empire . Now they are lost sheep ditched by Washington without the ability to govern their own affairs or think for themselves. They were so utterly stupid as to be drawn into a war against Russia provoked by the US , now the war is lost and their economies in ruins.
One unstated reason the US provoked the war, I think, is that Russia and Europe were into a very mutually beneficial trading relationship and the US wanted to bust it up... and what better way than to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines.
