Carney is a product of Harvard, Oxford, Goldman Sachs and the Bank of Canada. Hardly visionary leadership in a world on fire. It really doesn't matter if you have a dolt like Trump, or a person of education who is the smarter master of neocapitalist thinking. It's all death. The trade wars are just a hastening and distraction while we get pillaged from the inside out.
I just listened to Glenn Parry make sense. It’s humanity’s dark night of the soul where we now can clearly see humanity’s shadow side — Indians, slavery, etc. Revealing it lets us transcend it — or die.
Thank you, Suzanne! Humanity tried to pass Civilization 402 while failing the pre-req Morality 101 - civilization and war are incompatible, leaving no verifiable civilization on this planet. The pre-requisite was to d/l a new OS which has no coding for murder, theft or covetousness. We failed that so went on to create this horror show of chaos, genocide, etc. Wann wird man je verstehen?
It’s time for a new creation story where we understand ourselves to be sacred creatures in a sacred universe. I write about that. How bad things are call us to come up with what’s extraordinarily good as a counter.
Thank you! Yes, we can all think via our better brain and avoid brain-stem reaction and hate. But the other 7,999,999,000 people are still going to try to steal from you - it takes an online system upgrade to the entire human OS all at once, person-by-person achieves nothing. This human animal attempted a civilized structure that was beyond its capacity. As of the 2 AM attacks on Gaza, two nights ago, I am declaring this to be a post civilization world. This experiment has failed, everyone, everywhere, all at once.
We have to assume Carney is Neoliberal but as the writer suggests he is by far the lesser evil . PP is a robotic Harper clone and protege.
We would all do well to force neoliberalism as an issue in the election. It is the last thing political parties want to talk about as they all adopted it. A stated goal of neoliberalism is the denigration of government and the political parties and we are suffering 40 forty years of it . Neoliberalism has been a key element in creating the f'ing mess the west is in today.( one reason China is prospering today is it threw out the neoliberals insisting on its economic and political sovereignty.)
The feckless Conservatives are gleeful they have a 10 point lead over Carney which shows just how absurd they are.... the only poll that counts is election day
Trudeau has ruled with only 32% of the popular vote while the CPC has 34% which means under our FUFPTTP system who wins is very much up for grabs.
Alas, we must accept our so-called democratic system, like the US, is in the ICU... but hope must always spring eternal.
Yes, neoliberalism must be exposed, the common enemy. The issues of an uninhabitable planet are not right versus left BS. Capitalism in all its forms have led us here, to the precipice of our own extinction. Short of uprising, we're done, an uprising that needed to happen decades ago. They were smart enough to keep we lucky ones coddled. Now comes the boot on our faces. Fight or die time. Voting has long been a farce.
Thank you, Geoffrey! But things really are somewhat better here, just across the bridge from you, a better society by about an order of magnitude. A federal election here takes usually 45 days, unlike the sorry mess in the Unexplored Southern Areas. There is a federal vote's list consisting of actual citizens, the voting is under federal rules rather than state/county, verified scrutineers from all parties observe the counting of actual paper ballots. It is a direct vote, no "Electoral College" nonsense. A number of days for government transition, and it's all done with. Voting actually counts here, but the problem with "manufactured consent" persists everywhere. Remember what John Dewey said in 1905: "Politics is the shadow cast upon society by big business." Here's a "Why Canada?" video: https://youtu.be/vhiKlhTmwDU?si=rgILIfLh7Pvn6xGW
Without having watched the video, I agree things are better in Canada to an extent. When W was reelected, I took a look at Vancouver and learned about the citizenship process, which takes about four years. Some days I wish I had gone, but there are those pesky fires and Tar Sand Oil Queen Smith in Alberta. Nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, eh?
Queen Smith was an intern at Fraser Institute and a promoter of their propaganda while at the neo-liberal retailed of their ideas, The Calgary Herald. You have this influence at all levels of government local, state, national - they don't have to declare their influencers.
we need voting to be in our hands. and to be real and quick and honest and transparent.

So now what?
Here is a longer answer:

Her tears when fires destroyed the town of Jasper left me unmoved. Ridiculous. Live by the sword, die by it, too.
